Top 6 Ways Your Website Can Make You Some Extra Cash

There are several ways to make your website profitable. Displaying ads, selling products, and charging visitors for access to premium content are a few options to consider. Here are the top 6 ways your website can make you some extra cash.

make-money-from-website

6. Sell Ad Space

Instead of joining an ad network, you can offer space on your website directly to companies. For example, if you have a blog or website with a large anime fan base, you could reach out to anime retailers regarding ad placement for their business on your website. Negotiate a fee for placing the ad for a specific amount of time.

5. Place Advertisements on Your Website

One way to earn passive income with your website is to place ads on the site. Use either a pay per click advertising network, such as Google AdSense, or a cost per mille network, such as CaSale Media. Pay per click ad networks pay you every time a visitor clicks on an ad. With a cost per mille ad network, you're paid for every thousand views of an ad. Most reputable ad networks offer $1 to $10 per thousand views.

4. Sell T-Shirts, eBooks, and More

Another way to make money on your website is by selling things related to your website. DVDs, eBooks, audiobooks, and apps are some of the things you can sell. T-Shirts, cups, and mugs with text or logos related to your site sell as well. There are several websites which let you create and sell these types of goods including Amazon.com, CafePress, and Spreadshirt. Simply place a shopping cart or link on your website to these products, or use a website builder to add a store to your website.

3. Consider Affiliate Marketing

Instead of selling your products, try selling the products of another company, for a percentage of the sales. Most affiliate marketers receive about 5% for each product that sells as a result of their efforts. This can simply be a link on your webpage back to the product page on the company's website. A product description and recommendation usually is all you need to have your visitors click on the link. You will get the credit for each referral. Amazon.com and several retailers offer affiliate programs.

2. Charge for Access to Premium Content

Having a subscription plan for premium content is another option. This could include articles, videos, music, and images. You could charge monthly for access to private forums as well. Depending on your website, there are several more things you could offer to entice your visitors to subscribe to premium content.

1. Embed a Donate Button

One more way to make money from your website is to embed a donate button. Visitors to your site can click on the button and easily donate with a credit card. You can get a donate button at PayPal.com. This site accepts online payments, including donations.

Ads, products, and donations can be huge revenue generators for your website. However, avoid placing too many ads on your website. This can appear spammy and it might drive away some visitors. What other cash-generating tactics do you use with your own site?

Create a Website: The Easy Way

Using a Website Service

There are a lot of reasons to need to make a website. You might want it for informational purposes. You may need it to post something academic in nature. Usually, people start business to either promote them, or the ad revenue is a business in and of itself.

How-to-build-website

Whatever your purposes are for building a website, there are different ways to go about it. There is no one set way to do it, but people tend to think it is harder than it really is.

How you set up your website will largely depend on what you want to do with it.

For Simple Purposes

Many simply want their website to help them create a base of information. A website is an excellent place to keep information about your business, special cause, or hobby.

For instance, if you are simply looking to create business cards, and then have a web address on the card, that would prevent you from having to dispense flyers or brochures. Also, if you have a particular hobby or academic subject that you need to constantly have a place to go in order to display your information, a simple website is a great way to accomplish this task. From there, you can post videos, text, sound bytes, and other media options that will prevent the need for you to carry it on your person or on your hard drive. This can be a place that anyone can go to in order to be informed. Because of this, you might not necessarily want to put a whole lot of effort into your webpage, as the subject matter should speak for itself.

This method is the easiest way to go, but it is not necessarily the cheapest. Keep in mind that there are other cheaper ways, but this will take the least amount of web knowledge and work. This method on how to create a website will run you roughly $30 USD per month if, depending on certain services and extras.

The First Step

Your first order of business will be to register your domain name. A domain is basically carving out your own space on the World Wide Web. This is the place that people will type into the search bar or URL bar in order to find you. For instance, it is the “.com” or “.org” that is what you will be setting up for this step.

make-website

In order to make a website, you will need to go to a service such as, GoDaddy.com or Register.com. From there, all you need to do is go to their domain registration part of the webpage. Once you are there, you can choose from several options on how you want to register you domain name.

Do keep in mind that in “the easy way” you will want to stick to the same service for your domain name registration as you would in your hosting and website creation. The same company providing all these services might not only give you a deal on a bundle, but you will also be able to take advantage of ease of use. In addition to that, you might be able to receive extra promos and coupon codes.

In order to register, you will have to provide various information about choosing your domain name, information about the entity under which you hope to register, and last, payment information.

Arguably, you domain name is the most important part about your website. If you have a domain name that is not connected with your subject matter, then it will be more difficult to find it if you want to make a website searchable. Also, if you have a good website name that is a “.com” in mind, and that is taken, you can also chose from “.org”, “.biz”, “.info”, etc.

Overall, the domain registration will cost you roughly $10 USD per year, as this will always be the cheapest part of creating a website.

After Your Registration

Once you’ve registered your domain name, in this step on the “create a website” tutorial, you will want to then follow the steps on hosting and ultimately website creation.

create-website

This part is still very easy, as a service like GoDaddy.com will walk you through all the steps.

Hosting is simple, as it is basically using a part of a server that will be a space for you to work on your website. Now this has a tendency to run you about $10 per month, if you don’t receive any extras. This part is simple, as it essentially just gives you a space where you can upload your info and codes.

It is important to note that they will be providing you with a PIN, and a Username and Password. You need to keep this information secure, as this is the most important information you can retain in creating a website.

Website Creation

If you are creating a website the easy way, you can utilize many services that will make it a snap, and you will be able to have the whole thing up and running within the course of an afternoon, if you have all your info readily available before hand.
All that is necessary in creating your own website this way is that you need to use their website wizard option. This will give you a program whereby they will provide a website builder that you can utilize with simple design tools. You don’t have to know any codes, html, or other technical data, as it is basically just text entering, cut and paste, and drag and drop actions that are required for the building process in creating a website. For instance, GoDaddy.com’s Website Tonight program is very simple to use and you can even easy drag drop in YouTube videos. This means that you don’t even have to know html, but you can include the YouTube URL, and past it into their program. Simply place where you want the video to sit in on the page and there you go.

create-website

Using this service might cost you an additional $10 per month, but the ease of use may be well worth it. Not everyone needs an elaborate setup for creating a website, and this provides a simple option.

How to Make a Website for Free

It has always been said that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Indeed, with economies crashing down, unemployment rates rising, and people running out of cash, freebies are just too good to be true these days. However, it is also true that free websites can be obtained and it is possible to create and maintain a site without having to spend anything on domain name registration and monthly hosting. One can sign up for free web hosting and free web pages can be updated any time with new information.

how-to-free-website

Free Website hosting is applicable to the following basic websites which can be completely free:
  • Personal Websites – web pages created by individuals showcasing personal information and often used for entertainment purposes.
  • Family Websites – usually created by families to keep members connected through sharing of family photos, keepsakes, and genealogy to preserve family history in the process.
  • Special Occasions or Announcement Websites – websites for special occasion announcements such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and the like.
  • Hobbyist & Special Interest Websites – websites created by people sharing the same hobbies and special interests.
  • Clubs, Organizations and Associations – websites dedicated for various organizations mentioned.

Word of caution against free websites and free web site hosting

Alas, there is, indeed, no such thing as a free lunch. When somebody offers you a free website, you will be required to sign up before you can start building yourown website. Once you sign up, you may find yourself committed to extra costs and hidden charges imposed by the provider. Here are some other problems you might belatedly encounter:

  • Intrusive pop-up windows and banner ads
  • The free website does not include a free domain name
  • The good features are a part of a premium package you have to pay for
  • The need to use the online point and click tools provided by the free service in creating your own site
  • Unreliable technical support
  • Difficulty in switching to other host service providers
Since free websites are not really free in the real sense of the word, it is best to register your own domain name to get your own web address. This way, your website will not be at the mercy of the company which provides your free website. When the provider decides to implement changes, your website will be safely intact.

Create Your Free Website

create-website

The first thing to do in creating a free website is to choose a free web host. In choosing a free web host, you need to consider the following:
  • The purpose of your website should be compatible with the capabilities of the free web host.
  • Does the free web host offer an easy builder system for beginners?
Most site builders of hosting companies work only on that company’s server making it impossible for your site to be moved to another host without rebuilding it from scratch.
  • Will the free web host allow you to get email through your website’s domain name? It’s best to choose a host which provides unlimited autoresponders so you can stay in touch with your visitors or potential customers.
  • Does the free web host provide enough space for your website’s growth?
  • Does the free web host provide enough speed for faster loading?
  • If you’re planning a website that will generate a lot of traffic, free hosting is not advisable.
You should be able to choose a web host that would suit your needs and provide the technical support you need.

The next step is to build your website.

website-building

The simplest way to build your website is to use your web host’s free website builder, that is, if they have one. If not, you will need some type of web building software available from outside sources.

In building your website, you need to keep in mind some reminders:
  •  Keep your web site simple but eye pleasing. Avoid clutter and unpleasant fonts and color.
  • Avoid blaring music or sound on your site that might startle people away.
  • Avoid slow loading graphics on your page. People will not stick around to wait for the loading.
  • Show your visitors what your site is all about in a glance.
  • Avoid annoying pop-ups on your site which tend to annoy people.
The third step in creating your free website is to upload your website to your web host account. Some call this “publishing your website”. If you are using your web host’s website builder, your website files will automatically be on your web host’s servers. You can do this just by clicking a button.

If you’re using an independent software website builder, just log on to your web host account and click the upload button.

create-blog

Now that you have created your own website for free, you may want to use it now to start a small business, or to start a blog. Whatever you decide to do with it, always remember to evaluate your web site periodically. Make the necessary improvements to update it.

Remember the purpose you had in mind when you created it. Make sure your web site has personality so as to attract visitors. Design is just as important as the content. Make it simple yet elegantly attractive. Always remember that a great website shares meaningful and useful content that gives information, entertainment, and satisfaction.

Do You Use Statistics on Your Blog? Consider an Infographic

If you need to convey statistics on your blog, it’s important that you illustrate the data in a way that is both engaging and easy to understand. Internet users are fickle, and if you present your statistics in a way that is confusing, they can and will click away in a matter of seconds. Using infographics will allow you to present your information in a way that is visually interesting and will keep visitors on your blog, as well as encourage them to share the data with other Internet users.

blog-statastics

Compelling Visuals

Infographics combine data such as statistics with striking art and imagery. Infographics give you the opportunity to integrate color, brand logos, and themes into your statistics. Your statistics can be layered on top of relevant stock images or graphic design, which helps give context to your data in addition to adding visual interest to the blog. Because an infographic is more attractive than a standard chart, visitors are more likely to devote time to reading it.

Easy to Scan

Infographics call out only the most important data in your statistical analysis or research. As a result, they are easy to scan for certain statistics and numbers. Unlike a standard chart, which requires a reader to look for a particular cell that contains the data they need, an infographic allows the reader to quickly scan for a key word or number. When your readers find it easy to sort through the information, they’re less likely to get bored or frustrated and move on to the next blog.

Create-infographic

Promotes Learning

Most people are visual learners, meaning that they absorb information more quickly through an image than strictly by reading text. While text is essential, as it conveys a specific message and clarifies your imagery, using an infographic to present your statistics takes advantage of the visual learning style. A striking infographic can make an effect in a matter of seconds, where a standard graph containing only text may take a few minutes to read and comprehend. Infographics help your readers retain the statistics you present in their memories.

Go Viral

Because infographics integrate imagery and good information, they are more likely to go viral. Even if it contains useful information, a standard chart or graph is very unlikely to be shared over social media or email. On the other hand, a good infographic may very well be shared on social media sites or other websites. As long as the graphic always links back to your blog, infographic sharing is an excellent way to increase the amount of traffic that your blog receives.

Increases SEO

The more people who link to your infographic, the higher the likelihood that search engines will increase your page rank. Search engines will see your blog as more important because links to the blog appear on multiple websites. Thus, using an infographic to represent your data can result in your blog coming up higher in search results for relevant key words. Including the name of your site on the infographic can drive even more traffic to your blog.

seo

Infographics give you the best of both the artistic and empirical data worlds. By representing your statistical information on a visually interesting infographic, you make it easier for readers to grasp your point and more likely that they will share it with others. Utilizing infographics on your blog will improve your reputation as both a thought leader and savvy Internet resource. When it comes to increasing brand awareness and making your blog aesthetically pleasing, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to integrate infographics into your posts.

Internal linking - Best Practices for SEO

The internal linking structure of a website is very important considering that each page has a potential rank with Google and other search engines. Internal linking refers to the links present on the domain which point to other locations on the same domain. Distribution of link authority and ranking attributes is where it becomes very interesting.

Internal-linking-seo

As an overly simplified example, Apple.com is a PR9 website meaning it has a lot of clout in the eyes of Google.
The Apple Store on the other hand is PR7. Both ranks are extremely high, most websites never reach this point. However if Apple wanted to raise the PR rank of the Apple Store page, they could do so by linking from the PR9 home page to the Apple Store page, which is what they are doing and surely plays a major role in the current ranking of each page.

Although this is a simplified example, it should make sense that if your domain is PR5 and your post pages are PR0 and PR1 then by distributing what I and many others call ‘link juice’ from high PR pages to low PR pages internally, we are able to help increase an individual page’s PR.

inter-linking-sites

This goes hand in hand with site architecture I touched on in an earlier post. The idea is to be able to redistribute the available ‘link juice’ and increase or raise ranking. So understanding that you have both on-page and off-page optimization, we need to remember that although we may not have external links pointing to each specific page or post, we still have control over our internal linking structure and that is a big plus.

There are certainly many variables affecting PR level. Some of these might include domain age, relevance, external links, and much, much more. We don't know exactly what affects it, or how much effect each item has on the whole. Generally, focusing on high quality products and content and focusing on a strong backlinks campaign will help increase relevance in the eyes of the search engines.

Internal-linking

In the end, a properly constructed internal link structure will always help a site in terms of quality, likely ranking, and probably increase traffic. If for no other reason, a site with a strong internal linking structure will help the visitor navigate the site with ease. If a site has commercial intent, this becomes even more important because you want visitors to find what they are looking for and buy it.

Adobe.com is also a PR9 website. Both Adobe and Apple place a lot of weight on their internal linking structure.

Take a look at this video in which Matt Cutts is explaining the importance of internal links.
Summary of video: Interlinking is one of the 3 most important optimizations that every blogger should do for his site’s SEO and conversion.

3 Options Of Submitting Articles to get Maximum from it

When you learn to submit articles, one of the most important decisions you make will be your method of submitting articles to publishers.

You have three variants: Sending manually, using the submission article software, or using the Internet article submission.

Article-Submission-ways

Let’s take a closer look at these 3 options:

1. You may submit your articles manually

This means that you go to the catalog of each article and submit a piece of content manually.

Pros: Submitting your content manually is something that almost anyone is able to do. You simply create an author account at the directory, and then submit your article by filling in the different fields the directory asks you to. Submitting by hand enables you to get used to the process of article submission, as you decide if you want to use article marketing as a key marketing tool. Manual submitting is also free.

Cons: Submitting by hand takes a lot of time and produces very modest results. Ideally, you would like to have your articles submitted to as a lot of publishers as possible, but you have a limit of the number of manual submissions you can do. In the end, you're just a person! Submitting by hand can get very long if you are serious about doing article marketing.
When you submit to only a couple of directories, you must also submit more articles to see the results. Manual submissions may require a person to write articles in a day or more to see the results. After a while, writing so much becomes very tedious, so it can be difficult to adhere to a consistent marketing campaign, article when you submit manually.

2. You can submit articles using article submission software

Article submission software is a program that you buy and install on your PC.

Article-Submission-software-service

Pros: The software gives you a list of articles directories. The software helps you fill in the various directories that save time for you. You only need to pay for the software at the beginning – you can use it as long as you like after your purchase.

Cons: Even though the software will help you fill in the fields on the registration page of the article, it is still largely manual work and takes a lot of time. You need to visit each site and register and go to each site, if you want to submit your article.

3. You can use the web service article submission

Internet service of article submission is a membership site, which is placed on the Internet. Participants can enter their articles, click “send” button, and then the system distributes the article to an extensive network of publishers.
article-submission-service

Pros: Submitting articles using Internet article distributing service takes a minimum of time and gives the best results. Service maintains a list of publishers, so you do not have to.
So you may save time – when you submit through the online service, you do not have to submit as many articles since each article is being distributed to hundreds of publishers. You only have to provide about 8 articles a month for each website that you are marketing.

Currently economic recession has resulted in loss of jobs by many people. More and more of them refer to Internet as the way to make money. And this is a really unique opportunity to earn one’s living. If you have no business idea or you are looking for something to start from, try article distribution.

                                                         article-writers-wanted

If you are good at article writing, it can turn into your regular job. Luckily the web technologies offer many possibilities to earn. Make use of Google and other search engines to search for “article submission“. You will find many sites accepting and even paying for article submission.

Check out various social networks and forums and check topics which are relevant to this. It is also recommended to sign up for the RSS on this blog because it will allow to keep track of the latest news and opportunities regarding “article submit” topic. Don't lose this chance to fight bad times.

What the Heck 301 redirection is

What does 301 Redirect really mean?

301 redirection an efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for redirecting a web page.Search engines consider http://proseoexpert.com and http://www.proseoexpert.com different websites. As a result, if your website has been linked to from other websites using a mix of the two URLs you are effectively splitting the potential benefit of valuable link popularity.

The Solution

Using a 301 redirect on the “non-www” version of the URL, which is essentially a “permanent” redirect in server talk, you can effectively consolidate all of your link popularity to a single URL. This consolidation will serve to increase your website’s chances of obtaining and maintaining top rankings.

How To Enable The 301 Redirect

301-redirect

You need to instruct the server you are hosting your website on to redirect the traffic seamlessly. To do this you need to first establish what type of server your website is hosted on. There are two main types of servers that are in use: Microsoft and Apache (Linux/Unix). Once you have established the server type you need to follow their related instructions below. Please note this is best left to a person with some technical knowledge.

How to Brainstorm while Blogging

Brainstorming is a very effective tool when it comes to plotting the course of your blog. A lot of people ask me about blog time management and brainstorming is a perfect way to help ease your stress.

brainstorm-while-blogging

So what makes a good brainstorming session?

1. Write Everything Down

It’s vital that you write everything down that comes from your mind during a brainstorming session. Something that you may think is inconsequential may spark an idea for your next post! I use a flipchart but grab a scrap piece of paper or write it down in a notebook. And don't throw it out once you have used up those ideas. Use it as a launching pad for your next brainstorming session!

2. Don't Reject Ideas

It’s easy to think an idea won't work, but write it down anyway. Often, I've rejected an idea and then taken a closer look at it a few hours later and realized that it would make a really good post!

brainstorming-blogging

3. Think outside the Box

This is a cliché saying so forgive me, but what I mean is, think outside your comfort zone. If you find yourself writing the same old boring thing for your blog posts, take a step back and see how you can make it new again. Take time to think about what the client REALLY wants and not what you think they want. Spice it up and make it fun!

4. Use a Partner

Having someone to bounce ideas off of is a great asset. Grab a fellow blogger or even a non-blogger to toss around ideas. One of my brainstorm buddies doesn't even work in the business but he routinely comes up with great ideas for me. (It also helps that he’s a guy and can give a guy perspective).

5. Use Your Surroundings

Look around you for inspiration. Is there something in your home setting that could give you an idea? If not, go for a walk. Head to the coffee shop and see what you find there. Perhaps you are inspired to write a devious cat and mouse type post with a coffee shop setting? Or maybe it’s all about how your character masturbated in the back row of a movie theatre. Use your surroundings and you will come up with new ideas.

These are some tips to get you started! Good luck with your blogs and your brainstorming!

There is a large number of web sites on the Internet. Most of these web sites will be hosted on a server with many other websites. In the web hosting industry, this is called “shared hosting”. While there are many advantages to using shared hosting, there are also several disadvantages. The most significant disadvantage is that the other sites can put a strain on a server, which will how your site performs. If you would like visitors to be able to access your site quickly at all times, you should consider moving your site to a cloud hosting environment.

The major advantage of cloud hosting is that your site is hosted on several servers. As a result of this, your web site is unlikely to be affected if one of the servers goes down. While cloud hosting doesn't totally eliminate the risk of your web site going down, the risk is certainly reduced.

How To Choose A Cloud Host

It is important that the host you select is capable of scaling up as your web site grows. The majority of cloud hosts will be able to offer you the flexibility that you require. However, before you sign up, it is important to check that they offer flexibility in all areas, including disk space, processing power and RAM.

Another aspect to consider is whether or not the pricing for cloud hosting is flexible. Most shared hosting plans charge a fixed monthly fee for the plan which is fine for some people, but for those who need an extra boost, paying only for what you use is a more attractive plan. Thankfully, many cloud hosts utilize this pricing plan; this makes it easier to track your usage. This means you’re only paying for the resources that you use, which is an attractive option for many people.

This pricing system can be a drawback for some, as cloud hosting can be more expensive. Because a cloud network costs more to maintain than the standard shared hosting network, the prices that are charged are usually higher. However, cloud hosting really has proven its stability over recent years; as a result, paying the additional cost to ensure that your website stays up under high bandwidth usage could mean the difference between the success and failure of your web site.
